Lulu may be a hearing-impaired hairstylist, but she is also the star and busiest person at the Mr. Judy store she works at in Shenzhen. Her warmth, positive attitude, and professionalism have built up a long list of loyal customers who specifically seek her out and leave raving reviews.
Always with a smile on her face, many do not expect the difficult life Lulu has had to live. She was raised by a single mother and consequently sought work as soon as possible to help the family. But as expected with her disability, her career was full of obstacles and setbacks.
Nevertheless, Lulu pushed on and ended up finding Mr. Judy, a brand that has long been a supporter of those with disabilities and offers their clients a unique “silent service” program built specifically to support and empower individuals like Lulu – those with hearing impairments struggling to find quality work.
It was incredibly discouraging for Lulu at the beginning. Unable to hear what her customers were saying, she had to rely on lip reading and her colleagues’ help to do her job. However, as she gained more experience, she also grew in confidence.
Today, Lulu is well-known for her meticulous, confident, and professional service, and if you were to ask her how she is, her positivity would be absolutely contagious, with endless praise and love for her work, colleagues, and customers.
